Australia M&A – MidOcean Energy to acquire JERA’s stakes in Gorgon LNG and Ichthys LNG

Earlier this week, JERA announced that it has entered into definitive agreements to divest its minority interests in two Australian integrated gas-to-LNG projects to MidOcean Energy, the LNG investment platform managed by EIG.

Update (25 September 2026): INPEX has now confirmed that it exercised its pre-emption rights over JERA's 0.735% interest in Ichthys LNG. Subject to Australian regulatory approvals, the acquisition will increase INPEX's participating interest from 67.82% to 68.555%. JERA's separate sale of its 0.417% Gorgon LNG interest to MidOcean Energy remains unchanged.
