On 24 August 2026, Santos announced that the GLNG joint venture partners have agreed to acquire 100% of the Greater Meridian CSG project in Queensland from Westside Corporation and Mitsui E&P Australia for A$430 million, or approximately US$310 million.
The project is currently owned by Westside (51% + operator), a subsidiary of China's Landbridge Group, and Mitsui E&P Australia (49%). Following completion, ownership will mirror the existing GLNG joint venture: Santos (30%), PETRONAS (27.5%), TotalEnergies (27.5%), and KOGAS (15%), with Santos becoming operator.
The transaction has an effective date of 1 January 2026. Santos states that completion is conditional on competition approvals, FIRB approval, Queensland departmental consents and other required counterparty consents, with completion targeted for late 2026. Westside will provide transitional support for up to six months following completion.
